Volunteer program manager at Over Rood
In relative terms, the Netherlands has the largest number of self-employed persons without employees in the world. Of course, these are not just success stories. Over Rood is a volunteer organization that has been helping self-employed persons and small entrepreneurs to regain overview and insight into their finances for almost 10 years (divided over 15 branches). Not by taking over the problems, but by coaching and working together.
A lot is happening in the Netherlands at the moment. The bills and perhaps even the arrears add up quickly. People worry about the future and sometimes consider quitting self-employment. The expectations are gloomy, but Over Rood is ready for the developments. For various locations throughout the Netherlands we are looking for:
Volunteers (minimum 4 hours per week)
What are you going to do?
You guide freelancers in going through a trajectory within Over Rood. The objective of each process is that the client can get to work himself to solve his problems and to work towards a financially healthy future.
As a volunteer you share your knowledge and experience with your client and you help to gain structure and overview. You help make difficult choices. You act as a sparring partner. Brings in your knowledge and skills and offers a listening ear. No route is the same. Sometimes the request for help is purely financial-administrative, while at other times advice about business operations makes the difference.
You get entrepreneurs out of a negative spiral and help them pick up the thread again.
On average you will guide 5 to 10 clients per year with a time commitment of at least 4 hours per week. This is an unpaid position, expenses are (more than) reimbursed. You report directly to the branch manager.
What is the profile of a volunteer at Over Rood?
Empathetic, unbiased and approachable are Over Rood's core values. We have this in common with our volunteers. As a volunteer you use your knowledge and extensive experience, for example as an independent entrepreneur, director, operational manager or manager in the guidance process.
You enjoy sharing your knowledge and experience with people who will benefit greatly from it and you find it a challenge to empower people. In addition, you have the understanding and patience needed to adapt to the pace of the client.
You have HBO/University working and thinking level. Knowledge of and experience with managing/coaching/directing (groups of) people. You are empathetic and can empathize with the problems, mental situation and living conditions of clients, without becoming emotionally involved. Demonstrable experience or familiarity with the tricks of the trade when running your own business. Excellent command of the Dutch language in word and writing is a requirement.
Important skills:
• Being able to listen, summarize and signal well
• Structuring, organizing and planning
• You can assess a business plan and financial plan
• You have basic knowledge of administration and basic knowledge of marketing and sales
• You get along well with Excel and find your way on the internet
• You have knowledge of different tax types (IB, VAT, Vpb)
